Hamilton Quarter: A Joint Venture between CASTO, The Daimler Group and The New Albany Company

Mar 1, 2016

Columbus, OH — CASTO, The Daimler Group, and The New Albany Company announced today a joint venture to develop a large scale, mixed-use property, comprising 320 acres at the State Route 161 and Hamilton Road interchange. This development, Hamilton Quarter, will include over 700,000 square feet of office space, 1,000,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, and entertainment space, up to 800 multi-family units, and 130 senior living units, as well as hospitality and other destination oriented venues.

“Daimler, together with our partners CASTO and the New Albany Company have worked alongside the City of Columbus to create both a unique deal structure and master plan to develop one of the most well-positioned office sites in Columbus in terms of visibility, accessibility, and proximity to on-site and nearby amenities,” stated Bob White, Sr., Chairman at Daimler.

Further, Don Casto III, partner at CASTO, said: “The proposed project presents a unique opportunity to develop multiple complimentary uses over a large area of well-positioned, yet undeveloped land, all under a cohesive and coordinated land plan.”

The development team has been working closely with the City of Columbus to facilitate new roadway infrastructure, including the long-awaited Hamilton Road S-Curve extension. The extension will connect the Hamilton Road exit directly into Hamilton Road to the West, alleviating many of the traffic issues at the current Hamilton Road and Dublin Granville Road intersection and opening up significant opportunities for retail and office development.

City of Columbus Development Director Steve Schoeny said, “This project will help to create another great place to live, work and shop in Columbus, while helping to implement significant improvements to our roads, bike trails and other infrastructure. Hamilton Quarter’s design and connections to existing parks and neighborhoods will make it an exciting place for businesses and residents.”

In addition to the S-Curve extension, part of Dublin Granville Road will be rerouted, allowing for a Central Boulevard to be constructed. The Central Boulevard will be a walkable, destination space that will feature Main Street style restaurants and retail spaces that will serve as key amenities for office users, residents, and visitors. Shared use paths for pedestrians and cyclists will be located throughout the development, connecting the various components of the master planned project and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Completion of the first phase of the S-Curve construction is anticipated to occur by the end of October 2016. The balance of the extension will be completed in early 2017, while the other roadway improvements will start construction in early 2017. The first wave of development is expected to begin in late 2016 or early 2017.
