CASTO Breaks Ground on River & Rich

Apr 3, 2017

Columbus, OH — CASTO, one of the country’s leading real estate organizations, broke ground today on its East Franklinton mixed-use project, River & Rich.

The ceremonial event was attended by city officials, Franklinton stakeholders and representatives from the development teams, and kicks off the projected eighteen month construction period for the project. Speakers included Bill Riat, Partner at CASTO; Tom Williamson, Chief Financial Officer of Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority; Robert Weiler, Chairman at The Robert Weiler Company; and Mayor Andrew Ginther.

“This development, like the river, shows what’s achievable when a community finds the strength to work together, engages the power of partnership like we have with the City, the CASTO-Weiler team, the Kelley Companies and S2,” said Tom Williamson.

During his address, Mayor Ginther spoke to the importance of Franklinton being the city’s original and first neighborhood of Columbus.

“Franklinton’s got to stay funky, which means we want it to be a place where people can live, create and inspire,” he said.

Once completed, River & Rich will include 230 one and two-bedroom garden and townhouse style apartments, 25,000 square feet of retail space and a two-story, 292-space parking garage. CASTO and its partners will also seek input from local artists and Franklinton stakeholders on building murals and public art installations.

River & Rich is set to open early Summer 2018.
